Manzanita Ridge 2016-12-13T10:35:59+00:00

Ecology: South-facing slope of coastal Douglas-fir habitat with rare Arbutus-Hairy Manzanita ecosystem.

Public Trails: 0.5 km, at the southeast end of the Mt. Erskine ridge, south of the hydro transmission right-of-way. Dogs are permitted as long as they are on a leash. Unfortunately, loose dogs disturb ground-nesting birds and other critters who consider this their home.

Acquisition: Acquired in 2003 from owner Martin Williams. The land was partly donated and partly purchased through a local fundraising campaign. It is protected by a conservation covenant held jointly by the Trust Fund Board and the Salt Spring Island Local Trust Committee.
