Gray’s Desert Parsley Lomatium grayi
On the Southern Gulf Islands, this plants best defence is its choice of habitat. Steep cliffs and protected grassland pockets keep away most of the browsing deer that target the young flowering stems. Known in British Columbia only from one site on Galiano Island and one site on Salt Spring Island. Flowering can begin as early as January in a mild year and continue until late May.
