Common Bladder Moss Physcomitrium pyriforme
While this widely distributed moss is common in many parts of its range, it is still considered uncommon in British Columbia. On Salt Spring Island, it is known only from one site where it was collected from wet fields. It looks similar to banded cord-moss but with a short projection at the top of the capsule. Around here, it occurs on seasonally wet soil in more disturbed habitats.
