Banded Cord-moss Entosthodon fasicularis

At the northern extent of its range in the Pacific Northwest, this moss is also known from Europe. All the sites on Salt Spring Island occur in the vernal seeps of Garry oak woodlands. Common bladder moss looks similar but has a peg-like projection on top of the capsule, and tends to favour more disturbed habitats. Capsules well-formed by March.
